Potomac Middle School Announcements
New Principal Welcome!
Dear Potomac Middle School Families and Friends,

My name is Kevin J. Smith and I would like to take this opportunity to introduce myself and express my excitement in joining the Potomac Middle School community as its new principal. The middle school years provide a student with exciting and challenging learning opportunities and the Potomac Middle School faculty and staff are committed to supplying a rigorous academic program, enriching extracurricular activities, and most importantly, setting high expectations for all.

I am pleased to be joining a team with a proven record of collaborative effort, creativity, and initiative. I know that a successful school experience is achieved only through such collaboration among students, teachers, administrators, support staff and parents. I bring to this position a variety of experiences gained during my years as a teacher on both the elementary and middle school levels and as an administrator in Prince William County.

I look forward to putting my experiences to work for you and for our school, and I will rely on each and every member of the Potomac family in the coming years as we work together to provide the best possible experience for each Potomac Middle School student. Building and strengthening a successful and effective learning community will require input from many sources, and I hope that you will feel free to contact me with any questions and feedback you may have.

The faculty and staff of Potomac Middle School are dedicated to promoting a safe and positive learning environment, which I believe is the foundation for a great education. Students must feel good about their learning environment in order to ensure a constructive learning atmosphere.  We recognize there must be a collaborative work effort with our parents and community members and encourage positive interactions between our parents, community members, and school personnel. When we work in harmony and with open communication, we are able to implement new initiatives, make progressive strides towards excellence, and quickly address the everyday student matters.

Again, I look forward to meeting and working with you in the weeks and months ahead to ensure the success of every Potomac Panther.

Mr. Kevin J. Smith
Principal

Required Immunization for Rising 6th Graders
Attention Rising 6th Grade Parents! Please Read.
In accordance with the Commonwealth of Virginia and PWCS regulations, ALL CHILDREN ENTERING 6TH GRADE MUST HAVE THE Tdap IMMUNIZATION PRIOR TO THE FIRST DAY OF SCHOOL 2015.  Previously, if your child did not turn 11 until after school started, it was permissible to get a doctor's note indicating the child would get the shot when the child turned 11. That is no longer accepted.
Unfortunately, if a child does not have the immunization by the first day of school 2015, the child will not be allowed to start school. If you have any questions, please call Ms. Francis, School Nurse if you have any questions.
