Divisionwide Announcements
Our thoughts and prayers are with the children and families touched by the tragedy in Oklahoma.
PTMS SIGNET Open House
A Message From Principal Turner
Dearest Potomac Middle School Families and Friends,
As we enter the home stretch, we must gear up for that time of year we’ve all prepared for…..yes, the SOLs. Our students and teachers have all worked so hard this year and I’m confident in their ability to do well. This is their time to shine and they will!
I’d like to take this time to thank all of our wonderful parents, students and staff for making my first year at Potomac Middle School a memorable one. Change is not always easy. However, your children have been an absolute joy to work with. They are energetic, smart, taller than me, and most of all, just plain old fun to be around. They keep us all going and focused on our ultimate goal, THE SUCCESS OF OUR STUDENTS. Thank you so much parents for sharing them with us.
We’re almost there so……. Let’s keep on keeping on. We’re ready to rock and wrap up this wonderful school year. I am looking forward to seeing you all at our end-of-year celebrations. Come prepared to play!!
Panther Pride!
Principal Turner
Staff and Teacher Appreciation Week!
Don't forget to send a big thank you and appreciation for your favorite teacher or staff member at Potomac Middle School. This week recognizes National Staff and Teacher Appreciation Week. We truly thank them for all they do for our students each and every day.
Potomac Middle School, A School of Excellence

Congratulations Potomac Middle School! We are a School of Excellence for the 1st Time!

A School of Excellence must be fully accredited by the state, meet Virginia academic Annual Measurable Objectives, and achieve an overall score of 90 out of 100 points on PWCS Strategic Plan-based measures. Strategic Plan measures include student achievement, climate, and student health. Selection is based on performance in the 2011–12 school year. The School of Excellence distinction is the highest recognition awarded to a school by the Prince William County School Board.

Do you have questions about Special Education services? We can help!
The Prince William County Public Schools Division is required to inform the community of a student’s right to a free, appropriate public education and the availability of programs and services, including a special education. The Individuals with Disabilities Education Improvement Act (IDEA) and Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act (Section 504) are federal laws that give the School Division certain responsibilities with respect to providing such educational programs to students with disabilities. Under the IDEA and Section 504, the School Division has the responsibility to actively and continuously identify, locate, and evaluate those children, infant to age 21, living in Prince William County who may be in need of special education and/or related services, or adaptations or accommodations to regular education services.

New Sports Physical Form 2012-2013

Please be reminded that each student must have a middle school sports physical in order to try out for any sport. Middle School sports physicals must be dated after May 1, 2012 to be valid for participation in 2012-2013 team sports. Sports physicals are also needed for cheerleading, dance and step team.  A sports physical is different from a school entrance exam. School Bus Conduct

Welcome students!  Riding the school bus is a privilege.  Improper conduct on the bus will result in that privilege being denied.  Should a student need to ride a bus other than his/her regularly scheduled bus or need to disembark at a different stop, a parent must write a note requesting such a change.  School buses may not be used as a form of personal transportation.  They are to provide for the necessary transport of students.  Exceptions to this rule may only be made by a Potomac Middle School Administrator.  Notes should be taken to the office at the beginning of the school day to be approved by school Administration.  Students are to wait at the bus stop in an orderly manner.  While on the bus, each student is expected to sit and ride and ride and sit. You may also refer to your student's agenda for more information and expectations.
