I would like to clarify information regarding Zoom meetings this week and so on. I hope the following information helps with any questions or concerns that you have in regards to Zoom meetings with me: -Each quarter, we receive a new group of students from all grade levels. I decided to send out emails to all of my students from 1st-3rd quarter so that I can touch base and check-in with as many of my students as possible.  -These meetings are not mandatory but can be beneficial to your child during this time. I want to reassure you that I am here and available to support whether to talk, listen, do art, use art to support mental and emotional heath.  -The time frames that were given were designated by our Principal, Mr. Smith. Based on student response, your child will either attend the Tuesday or Thursday Zoom at his or her grade level time. They are welcome to do both as well.  -Please refer to my page on our website for updated information and Art lessons. -Also encourage your child to send in artwork so that I can upload it to our social media platforms to show off our student's talent. -Each week your child will need to have art materials and some found object materials like cereal boxes, soda can boxes, etc. I hope this answered some of your concerns regarding our Zoom meeting norms. Please feel free to email me if you have any further questions. I look forward to our meetings this week!   Rosemary Navarro Art Teacher Potomac Middle school 3130 Panther Pride Dr, Dumfries, VA 22026 (703) 221-4996 navarrrf@pwcs.edu

The Superintendent of Prince William County Schools, Steve Walts, has announced that our schools are closing for in classroom instruction and they are not sure how they want to continue online learning.  This is a challenging time for all of us, from VDOE, to the students, and everyone in between.  While decisions are being made I wanted to get the students to get into the online sites where they can practice and play games against each other to keep their mind on what they have already learned.  Please make sure that your students go to Microsoft Teams and sign into my online classes, Quizizz and Quizlet, so they can practice the sets.  I have left instructions for how to do that in Microsoft Teams.  They are only to use their last name, first and middle initial only because later this may be for grading and I need an easy way to identify them.

Art Program: The Art Program is on a 9-week rotation. The Visual Arts Department uses the Prince William County Curriculum and pacing guide. Art Projects during the quarter are studio driven with a focus on the Elements and Principles of Art, Studio Habits of the Mind, and therapeutic experiences.    Prince William County's Art Curriculum is Unit based and correlates with Virginia Standards of Learning for Visual Arts. Each grade level will be structured by Unit with grade level expectations for that Unit. Below are the foundational Concepts that will be explored in 6th grade Art.   The objectives for Grade Six art class is to emphasize exploration of the art and studio processes. Using the elements and the principles of art as a framework, students will experiment with a variety of materials, mediums, and ideas for generating innovative art products. By creating art through critical analysis and evaluation, students will determine how artists convey meaning through the use of forms, media, and symbols.
